Mobile photography is at one of its peak points. For years, mobile phone manufacturers have been putting a lot of effort into their cameras. In the golden age of Nokia, there was the megapixel war, which brought mobile phones with small screens and incredibly large sensors to the market (up to 41 megapixels were seen in the Nokia PureView back in 2012 when Android was not yet a standard).

Now, mobile manufacturers continue with that camera battle, although they no longer focus on the size of the sensor. Although you can still see sensors of gigantic sizes (more than 20 MP), now the battle focuses on the highest quality of the device’s optics, as well as a fight over who mounts more sensors on the device.

With the appearance of the dual camera, many manufacturers decided to bet on it to be able to add portrait mode. Now, we are beginning to see other devices with three cameras on the back, as well as some that opt for a dual front camera for selfies.

Considering all this progress in mobile cameras, now everyone has started using their smartphones as if they were digital cameras. And while they can do the job, as with digital cameras, if you want to take good photographs, there are some things to keep in mind.

Today, we give you some tips to take better photographs with your mobile so you can share them on Instagram or your other social networks or simply save memories of the places you go.

Light is everything

Yes, light is everything. Not only when it comes to night photography (where mobile devices falter the most), but to be able to get a decent photo. If you want to go from taking good photos to capturing incredible photos, controlling the light is essential.

When taking photographs, you have to take many elements into account, not just direct light. You have to look at the light reflections from nearby buildings. The best way to start mastering the light and also to get good photographs is to try sunrise or sunset light, which offers a very striking tone.

Remember that your mobile has some parameters that you can edit manually. Feel free to dip into your camera settings; it will help you have greater control of the photographs you take.

Remember that cell phones are not the best when it comes to low-light scenes, so if you are not sure, do not try to photograph anything or anyone if there is no decent light. Not at least if you want to get good quality results.

Zoom? You better get closer to your goal.

Huge sensors and increasing quality. There will be no problem zooming in a little to capture a slightly wider angle. But you’re mistaken. Using digital zoom will affect the quality of the image in the same way that ‘shaking’ will have more of an effect on it.

If you want to zoom in on something, the best thing you can do is use your legs. Move closer to the object you want to zoom in on; this is the best way to get a closer image without losing image quality.

Of course, there are always exceptions. It depends a lot on the quality of the optics, as well as the software, lighting conditions and so on. However, it is always advisable to avoid zooming on your phone when taking photographs with it.

Stability, stability, stability

There are those who have a pulse worthy of a surgeon, but many others have weak pulses, so their hands move too much. This is transmitted by the fact that the photos taken with the Smartphone are blurry.

In the middle of 2018, with the cameras that some mobile phones have and with optical stability, it is almost unthinkable for a photo to turn out blurry unless it is done on purpose. But, despite being rare, there are still stability problems when you do not have a top-of-the-range device or when photographing a moving object.

 • Hold your device horizontally. In addition to offering you a larger image, it offers better grip and greater stability.
 • Try burst mode if you want to take photos of moving objects. If you have decent stability, some of the photos will be of sufficient quality.
 • Keep in mind how you are going to shoot the image to prepare beforehand. Whether you are going to use the touch screen button or one of the physical buttons intended for capture, you can be prepared in advance for the movement that will be produced by said action.

It’s all about the angles…

Look at everything from a different perspective. Traditional angles, in addition to being already well-worn, may not be the best for certain captures. Try other angles to modify the result you get from a photograph.

Feel free to get down to the ground, climb a tree, or move to the side of the object so you can try new positions in the composition. Try all the angles you can with your subject, but don’t leave aside that initial angle because, if the others fail, it could be your best option.

A clean lens is a happy lens.

A pretty simple rule that not everyone seems to follow is to clean your camera lens. It’s not something to consider on DSLR cameras; it happens on all cameras, even mobile devices.

When a lens is not clean, spots, blurs, and even flares or deformations appear in the light it receives. Some use this to be able to take artistic photographs or give interesting effects to their images. However, these people have total control of the situation since they are the ones who generate said ‘dirt’ on the lens. If it is simply dirty, remember to take a microfiber cloth and clean it.

Quality and quantity

When talking about captures, the quality of the images must always prevail. Badly taken photographs are of no use and never take composition or lighting into account. Therefore, it is important to take into account the different aspects before shooting to obtain a quality image.

However, we are no longer in the age of film cameras. Now, in the digital age, you can take as many photos as you want without worrying about one going wrong. Don’t worry about the number of photographs. If you want to take a couple more shots, take them. The inspiration or change of light your image needs to become an extraordinary photo may come.

Use the apps

Whether you are an Android or iPhone user, both operating systems have numerous applications in their respective stores. Among them, you can see many photography apps.

From alternative cameras to those that come with the devices, as well as editors of all kinds, some applications can change your photographs. Take a look at the different app offerings available in the app stores. Also, ask friends or professionals for recommendations; they could give you a hand.

Seeing the saved WiFi passwords networks on your mobile can be really useful. There are many occasions in which we connect to a wireless network with a really complicated password that we do not remember, and being able to access it through our mobile allows us to share it with our friends in a very simple way.

Imagine that you are far from your router, and a friend asks you for the WiFi password. If you have not changed the default password – something we strongly recommend doing to protect your connection and your data – you will have to go to him to be able to consult the password. On the other hand, if you have access from your mobile phone, you will have to review it to be able to dictate or show it. The same thing happens, for example, with the connection to a bar or restaurant. Instead of having to ask an employee for the password, copy it from your mobile phone.

Android, by default, stores all the passwords that are recorded when connecting to a network. You can realize this by simply seeing that, after ‘remembering’ a password, the device will automatically connect to the network. For that reason, users can consult all these passwords stored on the device.

How to view saved WiFi passwords on Android

Knowing that all passwords are saved in a file on the same device, it would be enough to access said file to check the passwords. Unfortunately, the document cannot be accessed in such a simple way with all the keys.

To be able to consult the WiFi passwords saved on Android, it is necessary to have root access, that is, to have administrator permissions to be able to view the file. If your device is not rooted, you can read another article in which we show you how to root any Android mobile.

In addition to having administrator permissions to access the documents, it will be necessary to use an application to open the said file located in a difficult-to-access area of the terminal. An app that allows you to access this information is WiFi Password. It is a completely free application, so there is no need to worry about having to pay anything for it. It is not the only tool of this type that can be found on Google Play, but they all have the same characteristics.

After installing the application from the official Android application store, the same app will request that root permissions be granted to the files to open the document. After offering you the necessary permissions, the application will display all the WiFi networks that the device has previously connected to, as well as the cracked passwords, so the passwords can be read and used to access other devices.

If you don’t want to have to repeat this process, and you want to avoid having to give an app like WiFi Password access to your device, you can always write the passwords, along with the network name, on a piece of paper or on a note on it.

How to view saved WiFi passwords on Android without root

In order to see the passwords on your mobile, you must have rooted the device. However, suppose you have a computer within reach, with an Internet connection and a USB cable. In that case, you can obtain the saved passwords without having to go through the entire terminal rooting process.

All that is needed is to download the ADB drivers on the computer and connect the device to the computer through the USB port. After you have installed the ADB drivers on your computer, all you have to do is open a command window in the same folder where ADB has been installed. To do this, simply press Shift + Right Click and select CMD or Command Window in the options if done from Windows. In the case of MacOS, all you have to do is run the ADB command in a terminal.

If the device is connected, ensure USB debugging has been enabled in the developer settings. Once this is verified, run the following command:

adb devices

If the computer correctly identifies the device, the terminal information will be displayed in the same command window. Now, instead of accessing the file, what we will do is create a copy of the file on the computer so that it can be accessed with the same file explorer. To achieve this, you will have to execute the following command:

Adb pull /data/misc/WiFi/wpa_supplicant.conf c:/wpa_supplicant.conf

The previous line is the one that indicates that the information will be moved. Adb pull moves the information from the data/misc/WiFi/wpa_supplicant.conf folder to the c:/ folder on the computer. If you want to change the save location, change c:/wpa_supplicant.conf to the desired path, as well as the name of the file with which you want to save the information on the device.

In this way, it is possible to move the file from the device to the computer without the need to have administrator permissions, something that, on the one hand, could make you lose the warranty if your mobile is new.

Now, this whole process will be useless if you have a problem with the device and you have to factory reset it, deleting all the information it has. If this happens, all passwords stored on the device will disappear. But don’t worry; when creating a backup of the device, there is a box where you can select to store the passwords saved on the device. You must go to Settings > System > Device settings > Backup. The device itself will notify you of all the information that will be copied when creating the backup.

With a backup copy of the device, it does not matter what happens to it; having it saved in Google Drive, you only have to restore it to recover all the information that was previously on it.

Technology is advancing by leaps and bounds, to the point that in a few years, it can bring about a sudden change to the world as we know it. An excellent example is this micro camera, in the size of a grain of salt, which offers very good results and is ready to become part of many applications that will improve our lives.

The micro camera is the size of a grain of salt

Technology surprises us every year, and there are times when it makes a radical leap, as with this micro camera, designed with minimal dimensions since it barely exceeds the size of a grain of coarse salt.

Without a doubt, creating such a small camera is already a significant advance, but it must be added that it is a camera that can take images with fantastic quality, comparable to the lenses of the reflex cameras that we usually use.

This chamber has been designed with a metasurface technology composed of 1.6 million microscopic cylinders. Each cylinder has a particular geometry, capturing light individually from the rest.

By using an algorithm, it is possible to obtain a colour image with a very high quality.

However, it is important to remember that there is still a long process to ensure that this micro camera can offer optimal performance. Still, the first steps have already been taken, and the fact that more and more industries are interested in this project is clear. This process can be drastically shortened, and we hope that this micro camera will begin to work in many applications in a few years.

Technological advances with many applications

Currently, the micro camera the size of a grain of salt can be the solution to many applications that demand a system of this type, among which micro cameras for medical use stand out.

Current medicine has micro cameras that offer an important solution in many areas. Still, the problem is that the field of vision they offer is very small, to which we must add that the images obtained do not achieve good definition, but rather, they are usually blurry and may even appear as distorted images.

In this way, this new microcamera would be designed to be incorporated into medical robots that can perform diagnoses with maximum precision, greatly reducing the margin of error.

There is also another advantage, which is to reduce the type of invasive tests that are carried out today, that is, tests that may even require surgery. When this microcamera is integrated into the robots, they can be changed to tests of just a few minutes and, as it were, without taking off his shirt.

There are also many other applications outside of medicine in which this microcamera can be very useful, such as in industry, where it can be much more precise in certain jobs, both those carried out manually or through machinery. Manual or electrical, as well as even the incorporation of industrial robots that will guarantee micrometric efficiency that will allow better operation and more significant optimization during both the design and development, production and use processes.

This means significantly reducing the environmental impact while obtaining significant improvements that can revolutionize medicine and industry in the coming decades.

The post Android Studio: What Is It? And Where Do I Download It? appeared first on Stuff In Post.

]]>
Android Studio, for many, can be quite a complex tool and, for others, an exciting tool, but what is Android Studio, and where can we download it?

Android Studio is an integrated development environment or its acronym IDE, which is mainly based on the IntelliJ IDEA tool. This development environment has an incredible and powerful code editor and a large number of functions that allow us greater productivity, ease of use and speed while developing a new application.

If that were not enough, it also offers a relatively easy and flexible system to use for compilation, and it has an emulator and even tools that will help us identify if there are any performance, usability and compatibility problems generated by the application created.

Android Studio

It is quite a powerful tool, nothing to envy other code tools, since it also allows you to make code changes and apply new resources without restarting it as with many other devices. And if you were wondering, it also supports C++, NDK, and Google Cloud Platform.

Comparing Android Studio With Scoreapps

With what was mentioned above, we realize that Android Studio is an excellent application that perfectly fulfils its functions, but you can only create applications for the Play Store; now, if we talk about Scoreapps, it can create applications not only for Android but also for iOS, And if that were not enough, you can create very simple PWAs to share with more users.

Another of the disadvantages that Android Studio brings us is that it consumes a large amount of resources on your computer, so you will have to have a computer that is a little more powerful than the average if you want to get the most out of this tool, and by consuming a lot of resources, it will also drain your laptop’s battery quickly, so yes, you will need a fairly powerful computer.

What is the functionality of Android Studio?

We already know that this is a potent software that allows us to create applications for Android cell phones and that it has become a practically essential tool for any developer, but what if I told you that its use goes much further than just the creation? Of applications, you will also be able to perform many more actions of great importance, such as working on application updates.

It is a relatively simple and intuitive interface to use, so you can create any type of application easily, quickly and practically without any effort, whether you are an expert or a fan of developing apps.

Advantages of Android Studio

Here, we have already mentioned enough of its features that make up its great advantages, but we can continue to take more and more advantage of this spectacular tool and even more if we compare it with similar tools.

Execute the compilations quickly, without wasting time, and this is an excellent advantage over other similar programs; this way, you will be able to check if there are any errors much more quickly, and thus, we will be able to improve the application without wasting much time.

You will be able to see layout renderings in real-time, and if that were not enough, you will be able to use excellent tools within this program such as the tools parameters. And the best of all this is the Android emulator that comes with the program, so you can check in real-time for errors.

And not only will it allow you to simulate a single type of Android cell phone, but you will also be able to verify if the application you are developing works on different Android devices, both cell phones and tablets. You will be able to see them all simultaneously and see the parts of code that are in each one of them.

There will often be no need to use any code since Android Studio will directly give you a series of tools that will make your work much easier, so you can do the visual aspect of your application in a straightforward way.

And as you can imagine, this is the official Android application creator; thanks to this, we will always have new updates and obviously a correct functioning of this software since it is the same software that the best programmers in the world use to develop the operating system official Android and from there create all the applications.

As you can see, there are a large number of advantages that Android Studio brings us, and I assure you that if you use it, you will find more advantages. Still, since not everything can be perfect in this life, I also want you to know the disadvantages of the program.

Disadvantages of Android Studio

Not everything in this life can be perfect; as I told you before, this software also has certain flaws that become clear disadvantages that could even become a small headache for you. I’ll warn you right now so you can avoid these glitches and skip them.

By default, one of its main disadvantages is that you will not be able to develop for NKD, but of course, you don’t have to worry about this at all; if we use an IntelliJ plugin, it will be completely possible for you to develop for NKD. A result is achieved quite similar to what was previously done, but you can also write in other languages.

As I told you above, this software consumes a large amount of resources and battery, so it is not advisable to run it on a computer that is not as powerful, and if you want it to work correctly, you will need a good work team, a good capacity RAM memory and of course, as it could not be missing, sufficient storage space on your hard drive and other minimum requirements.

What Are The Requirements Of Android Studio?

We already know that Android Studio needs good computer power for it to run perfectly, so you will need a minimum laptop or computer with the following specifications:

For Windows :

 • Windows 7/8/10 (32-64 bit)
 • 8GB of RAM is recommended, but a minimum 2GB
 • Screen with a minimum resolution of 1280X800 pixels.
 • Intel processor
 • Java 8

For MAC:

 • Mac OS X 10.8.5 or higher 64 – 32 bits
 • 8GB of RAM is recommended, but you can use a minimum of 2GB
 • 4GB minimum free hard drive space
 • Screen with a minimum resolution of 1280×800
 • java 6
 • Linux

For Ubuntu:

 • KDE Desktop or Gnome
 • GNU 2.1 or higher
 • Processor with 64-32 bits
 • 8 GB RAM Recommended
 • 4 GB of hard drive space or 2GB Minimum
 • Screen with a minimum resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels
 • Java 8
 • Intel processor

These are the minimum requirements of the system, but if you want to achieve a completely successful installation and for the software to work correctly, then you must take other elements into account, and depending on what you are going to install, you must have certain specific instructions for each of them.

How to Install Android Studio?

As you already know, you can install this program on your Windows, Mac OS, Ubuntu or Linux computer; for this, you will need the .exe installer or unzip the .zip file.

If you have the compressed file either in a .zip or in a .rar, you just have to extract the contents and save it in a program files folder on your PC with the name Android-studio. Once this is done, you just have to access this folder, and then the “bin” folder and double click on the executor in studio64.exe in case your computer is 64-bit or studio.exe in case your computer is 32-bit; once the installer is open, you just have to follow the steps that will be indicated.

How to Install Android Studio on Ubuntu?

There are many ways to install a variety of programs in Ubuntu, but here I am going to show you a very simple way to install it, which is doing it through the Ubuntu program itself.

The only thing you have to do is enter the application and then search for the program’s name in its search engine and thus find the installer to install it, worth the redundancy. The only thing you have to do is click on the installation button and start this process so that you already have Android Studio in Ubuntu; after a few minutes of waiting, you should have the tool installed.

Once the software is installed, it will be ready. You can start creating new applications through Ubuntu.

How to Install Android Studio on Windows 10?

Here, it is much simpler; you only have to download the .exe file on the official website. To enter the official website, you have to Google “Download Android Studio” in Google, and there you can download the installer.

Once you have the .exe file, double-click on it to start the installation. From then on, you have to follow the steps indicated in the installer.

You will see that the installation goes like any other program in Windows; it will ask you a series of questions, and you have to click on Next, a really easy and simple process that will not take more than 3 minutes.

In the first box, when installing, the first thing it will ask you is which Android Studio components you want to download, and so that you can be totally sure that you have all the functions available, it is advisable to choose all the features that the program offers us.

In the next 2 windows, you will find that you must accept the use of the free license and the terms of use and also specify the place or path where you want to install the program. This time, it will ask you to save 2 tools: Android Studio and SDK. Ensure you have enough space on your computer for future updates, which will take up a lot of space.

Finally, you will be asked what RAM you want to allocate for the Android Studio emulators. We recommend that you choose or assign the greatest amount of RAM to ensure that you have the most optimal performance possible.

Once you have completed the previous steps, the installation and copying of files to the hard drive will begin. The duration of the installation will depend on the speed of your computer. The download of missing files for the installation will also begin, so make sure you have your computer connected to the network.

And that’s it, and you can start developing applications through Windows 10

How to Install Android Studio on Mac?

As with the rest of Mac applications, installation is usually quite simple; it is a fairly similar process, so you will not have any problems.

You will simply need the application installer, and if you are running Mac OS X, you have to be sure that you have a minimum JDK version 6 or later than that. To make sure which version you currently have installed, you can check from your terminal system.

Once you have verified everything I told you, you just have to double-click on the installer, and the installation will begin; it is really simple and once installed, you can start programming applications from your Mac.

How to Install Android Studio on Linux?

To install this tool on Linux. If you don’t know much about this operating system, then it will seem a little confusing or even complicated, but don’t worry because here I will show you step by step so that you don’t get lost along the way:

 1. Run the file to start the installation process.
 2. Once Android Studio is installed correctly, it’s time to make some configurations so that everything works perfectly well. You will open the terminal on your computer and look for the file you downloaded, possibly as .tar .gz, and find it in the downloads folder.
 3. Now you must extract the file using the following command: tar -xzf android-studio-ide-183.5452501-linux.tar.gz
 4. Now you will see that a new folder appears called android-studio, a folder that you have to move to the following directory: /us/local using the command: tar -xzf android-studio-ide-183.5452501-linux.tar.gz
 5. Once this is done, you will only have to go to the following directory: /usr/local/android-studio/bin and you will execute the program with the following command: cd /usr/local/android-studio/bin, finally to finish the installation right there, execute the following command: ./studio.sh.

Now, you can start developing your applications directly from Linux.

What Are The Versions Of Android Studio?

Like any other application or program that has a great team behind it, there will be updates that will solve problems or add new functions and thus improve the application.

Android Studio Version 3.0

Since version 3.0, new features have been included that add new functionalities to this software, in addition to making it work in an easy, fast and agile way. One of the main aspects that this version brought us was that it had the Android Profile; this aspect tells us if there are possible errors and/or performance problems within the application that we are developing.

Being able to edit through layers, new improvements for Java 8 and full support for Kotlin, a surprisingly new and official language for programming Android applications.

Android Studio Version 3.3

Here, the most outstanding feature was in the navigation editor; we will also find an innovative cleaner of previous versions and, what many of us like, a much faster compiler.

What’s New in Android Studio Version 3.5

In this version, different updates came to the table, mainly including fixes for various errors and improving program performance.

But really, one of the most important features of this update was that it was focused on improving the main parts of the development environment, such as bug fixes, polishing, and system health.

Android Studio Version 4.0

Here, we take a slightly bigger leap because we will find some really surprising updates, such as support for CameraX; you will also be able to use multiple Java 8 APIs. And if that is not enough, you will find a new visual editor for the MotionLayout design.

Android Studio Tutorial

Android Studio is such a complex and extensive tool that a complete tutorial would not fit here, which is why I am going to suggest that you search directly on YouTube; you will find many very good tutorials to become the best Android application programmer.

Every year different models of phones come out, each one better than the last. But, if we focus on Xiaomi, we have to say that they have launched three Mi and another three Mi 10T, which went on the market to offer the best value for money, as we have explained in other articles when we spoke. of the Xiaomi Poco F2 Pro.

Referring to the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro, both this model and the 10T are very similar, with the only difference being that the Pro has a better camera.

What is the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro characterized by?

Xiaomi mobiles are mainly characterized by their design, screen, performance, biometrics and camera. Therefore, these will be the points that we will discuss below.

Patent leather-based design

The Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro has features in the design of previous models; for example, the rear part has similarities to the Mi 9, especially in brightness and reflections, which makes the back cover resemble a mirror. The only drawback of using this type of material is that the marks are marked too easily.

But, without a doubt, what stands out the most in the rear area is the camera module, which is located in the upper left area, and as usual, this area stands out.

144hz display

This aspect is one of the strengths of the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro because it offers 144 Hz. But not only that, but we can enjoy a large 6.67-inch screen with a FullHD+ resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels.

This model uses IPS technology, giving us optimal vision thanks to the balance between saturation and contrast.

Finally, we must emphasize that the refresh rate can be modified; you do not have to use 144 Hz at all times, but you can lower it to 90 Hz or 60 Hz. In addition, this modification also allows you to make other changes Regarding the screen, how to adjust the colour scheme or the temperature.

best performance

The Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro has a great processor and the best connectivity because it has the Snapdragon 865 and the 5G modem. In addition, it has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, which is why it has become one of the most powerful mobiles on the market.

One thing to remember is that it runs any application and game without difficulty. In addition, the temperature is stable, so it does not overheat even if you have a workload.

biometrics

This model surprised everyone with the location of the fingerprint since it is on the side, along with the tray where the SIM is inserted. Despite being a small and thin fingerprint reader, it provides a fast and efficient reading.

Another way to unlock the mobile is through facial unlocking, characterized by its great speed. And, even if you have a mobile with hardly any angle, it will be able to recognize your face, which on some occasions can be a positive aspect, but on others not so much.

A powerful battery

The Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro is a heavy mobile compared to other ” gaming ” models on the market. This is primarily due to the battery it carries since it offers 5,000 mAh. This battery has been designed to support this phone’s refresh rate perfectly.

After conducting several tests, we have verified that it has more than 24 hours of autonomy. In addition, it takes a very short time to complete the charge since in less than 1 hour and a half; you can have your Mi 10T Pro charged to 100%.

The sound is a factor to improve.

When we buy a mobile with these characteristics, we look for it to be perfect in all aspects, but often this is impossible. A clear example of this event is the sound since, without a doubt, much more was expected.

The sound that is emitted through the speakers is clear and powerful since it reaches 104 decibels, although using 70% is more than enough. On the other hand, in terms of audio quality through headphones, it is lower since better bass adjustments and a higher dynamic range are missed since it is not heard as clearly as through the speakers.

Camera to take dream photos

Last but not least, we must talk about the camera. This account, with nothing more and nothing less than 108 megapixels, although what is most surprising is that it has two secondary cameras and a sensor:

 • The main sensor has 108 megapixels, along with a slow 7P. In addition, it offers great stabilization in the images.
 • The ultra-wide angle has 13 megapixels and is accompanied by a 5P lens.
 • 5-megapixel sensor for macro.

The front camera is also of good quality and offers 20 megapixels with a 5P lens.

The technological universe of intelligent electronic locks, which exploded in the early 2000s in response to the need to provide an inexpensive and easy-to-install alternative to traditional industrial access control systems, saw in 2020 as the emergence of a further opportunity for growth due to the pandemic.

A complete description of a Smart Lock system, in fact, focuses on three components:

 • the lock (among the most common types, we find those of the magnetic and electromechanical types)
 • the management system (app or desktop software)
 • login credentials (PIN codes, RFID cards, fingerprints, QR codes, etc …)

The recent opportunity arises precisely in the context of credentials, which have undergone a significant revamp both in terms of smartphone use and in the direction of RFID already explored in the past. In both cases, the watchword today is undoubtedly one: contactless. That said, the modern panorama of this niche is, above all, the result of the historical evolution of the second component mentioned, namely the management system, an evolution that has taken shape both in the industrial and the civil sector in an interconnected way.

Offline systems

The first type of system developed by the sector, the “offline system,” consists of programming software installed on the desktop, the main purpose of which is to allow the writing of a master card that transfers all information relating to users and privileges to individual Smart Locks once they are read. In other words, the programming communication to the various locks does not occur directly from the software. Still, it uses the master cards so that the access permissions reach the readers (which are, in fact, not directly connected to the software and, therefore, “offline” ).

Limits and evolution

Subsequently, with the advancement of the Internet and the production capacities of manufacturing companies, the possibility of equipping each lock with a TCP / IP unit becomes concrete, making it capable of communicating directly with the software by emulating a control unit. A comfortable prospect, but one that does not convince, especially from an economic point of view.

Smartphone

More recently, we have seen the birth of smartphones and related apps. By now, there is something for all purposes, and among these could not miss security: in addition to CCTV systems and anti-intrusion systems, access control has made space by immediately taking advantage of the communication protocols typical of the Smart Home, such as Zigbee, Bluetooth, and Z-Wave. Hence, starting from the residential, the Smart Lock product could finally offer a fruitful connection to the management software or app.

Gateway

Everything solved? Not exactly, since the “one-to-one” control between the app and Smart Lock, so dear to the end user, is not exactly easy to project to the industrial sector. At what distance can I establish communication between the mobile phone and the lock? How many mobile phones can I give control permissions to the same lock at a time? If the smartphone on which the app was installed is lost, is it still possible to cancel the association between it and the Smart Lock?

Questions that have found a clear answer with introducing an intermediate element between network and lock: the Gateway

Online systems

By binding one or more Smart Locks to the elements mentioned above through one of the above protocols, it is then the task of the Gateway to connect to the network (typically via Ethernet cable) to give the software a real-time view of the locks. Ditto for programming users and credentials; direct, fast, and free of costly travel. Add to this the installation of software equipped with a communication module with the Gateways and, perhaps, a section for managing reservations that can be shared on the local network with customers to provide them with the login credentials on a mobile phone connected via WiFi: this is how we assist at the birth of “online systems.”

Contactless

While some types of biometric credentials continue to meet resistance from local legislations, the broader concept of contactless has recently gotten everyone to agree. Combining the benefits with the convenience offered by online systems, the direction of the Smart Lock market for the future seems clearer than ever.

The post WiFi Calling: How To Call From Your Smartphone In The Absence Of Coverage appeared first on Stuff In Post.

]]>
In Italy, WiFi calling is still little known. Yet it is a valid alternative to easily solve coverage problems in those areas of the country or in those environments (underground meeting rooms, warehouses, server farms, bank vaults, etc.) where the signal from cellular networks does not reach.

In fact, with WiFi calling, the smartphone turns into a terminal that uses the VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) paradigm. The mobile phone connects to a proprietary or public WiFi network.

This means that the audio quality is directly related to the quality of the connection. It is also true that the so-called Quality of Voice (QoL), linked to the Quality of Service ( QoS ), also depends on the application.

Wanting to make a comparison, the voice quality in WiFi calling is comparable to that obtained with calls made via WhatsApp, with the advantage, however, of calling and receiving calls with your mobile number.

Without forgetting that, for high definition of the voice on the IP network, 30 kbps per second are sufficient. Which mitigates potential bandwidth bottlenecks.

The difference between WiFi calling and instant messaging apps

Today, several apps rely on VoIP to allow you to make calls over an Internet connection.

Just to mention the most widespread, it is estimated that all over the world, the voice and video calls that pass through WhatsApp amount to 2 billion minutes a day.

The difference between WiFi calling compared to the Facebook home application and similar instant messaging systems, which also allow you to call, lies in the mechanism of reciprocity.

Whoever makes and who receives the call, whether audio or video, must have the same app installed on their smartphone. A constraint that WiFi calling is not subject to.

The ideal tool for smart working

There is another advantage that WiFi call offers over the applications listed above.

It is the possibility of reaching fixed numbers and mobile phones present in your address book or by typing them directly on the device keyboard.

Not only. Thanks to WiFi calling, your smartphone can also become a fully-fledged corporate cordless phone that receives calls sorted by the office switchboard regardless of whether you are in your workstation, at home, or in a coworking space.

WiFi calling, in this sense, is the guarantee of greater flexibility and is a candidate to equip smart working with the most appropriate enabling technology to make “agile work” effective.

The advantages of WiFi calling abroad

An important aspect also concerns the use of WiFi calling abroad.

With a local SIM and WiFi calling active, it is possible to use the data connection of the SIM or a WiFi network (in the hotel, at the airport, at the restaurant, etc.) to continue making and receiving calls with your mobile number, as if was in Italy, at no additional cost.

Thus, it is possible to reduce the costs generated by roaming significantly.

We are talking about a potential saving of thousands of euros per year, like all Italians who work permanently outside the national territory or who have to make several trips across the border can testify.

WiFi calling in the age of social distancing

In this period of uncertainty related to Covid, companies tend to favor remote or smart working methods. WiFi calling can be the ideal solution for companies and workers.

In fact, the service allows you to use your smartphone even in those places, such as mountain regions and coasts, where many Italians have second homes and the mobile network is not very present—an answer to harmoniously reconcile private life and professional activity.

The post How To Setup Parental Control On iPhone For Busy Parents appeared first on Stuff In Post.

]]>
It’s fair to say that parents have a lot on their plate at any one time, and this can certainly make it difficult for you to find the opportunity to monitor your child’s iPhone use. Despite this, there are still many different dangers and threats that lurk online, so it’s important that you can find the time and means to protect your children while they use their iPhones despite your hectic schedule! It has to be said that unless you can effectively monitor it, your child’s iPhone can easily become a platform that enables bullying, predation, and abuse. Fortunately, learning how to set up Parental Control on an iPhone can help to put an end to your anxieties, as you can begin to minimize the likelihood of your child encountering risks online by limiting their web use and tracking their activities. So, if you would like to find out more, then simply read on to dial over how you can get started today!

What is Screen Time for iOS?

Every iPhone has a range of different features, some of which can be utilized as parental controls. One of the most effective pre-installed applications that you can use to help minimize the dangers your child faces online is Screen Time for iOS. With Screen Time for iOS, you can gain instant access to real-time reports that show you exactly how much time your child spends on their iPhone, and you can also use the feature to set limits for certain applications you want to have more control over. By using Screen Time, you can start to make more informed decisions about your child’s iPhone use based on the data provided. It can be of real benefit to limit the amount of time that your child can spend on certain applications, and the fact that you can deny access to certain sites and content altogether can be a bonus when you aren’t around to monitor their iPhone use in person. Screen Time for iOS also allows you to declare a device as your child’s and set up a password to access its features, meaning your son or daughter will not be able to change their settings and gain access to whatever you have chosen to block.

Features of Screen Time for iOS:

 • Downtime
 • App limits
 • Communication limits
 • Password controls
 • Content & privacy restrictions

How to turn on Screen Time for iOS:

 • Go to Settings > Screen Time
 • Tap ‘turn on Screen Time’
 • Tap ‘continue’
 • Select ‘this is my child’s iPhone’

Although Screen Time for iOS no doubt has many great features which can be used to help block out specific content, apps, and websites, it does little to monitor your child’s iOS activities. An alternative application that offers far better coverage with the most in-depth insights and advanced parental controls is Family Orbit.

What is Family Orbit?

Whether you’re monitoring your child’s iPhone usage or checking in on their location at any time from any location, Family Orbit has covered all parental control elements to ensure that your child is safe and protected using their iPhone no matter how busy you might be. Family Orbit can be described as a parental control app that can offer you total peace of mind, allowing you to monitor your son or daughter’s activities while also putting specific provisions in place to make sure they are unable to gain access to any unsuitable content. This makes it ideal for parents with a hectic schedule who cannot stand over their child’s shoulder 24/7 or continually monitor Screen Time data, as the preventative measures in place can minimize the likelihood of your child encountering dangers while using their iPhone. Family Orbit is easy to install and the features function well, so you won’t have to spend hours trying to set up your new parental controls.

With Family Orbit you can:

 • Monitor text messages and call history
 • Check websites visited
 • View photos & videos
 • Utilize virtual geofence alerts and location history
 • Gain alerts for dangerous activities
 • Access parental insights

Utilizing both Screen Time for iOS and a second dedicated parental controls app like Family Orbit is the perfect way to protect your children from iPhone dangers when you’re a busy parent. When you set up parental control on iPhone devices that your children use regularly, you can maintain ultimate peace of mind that they are out of harm’s way.

Family Orbit is the most efficient way to minimize the likelihood of your child encountering threats on their iPhone, so there’s no time like the present to download the app and see for yourself just how valuable the various parental controls can be!

The post How To Properly Charge a Smartphone? appeared first on Stuff In Post.

]]>
Many myths have arisen around charging smartphones. Many of them are leftover from the time when, after buying a new phone, you had to first form the battery (often incorrectly referred to as formatting). So how should we properly charge our devices?

Charging the phone – what to remember?

Nowadays, when most smartphones have built-in batteries that cannot be replaced, it is especially important to properly charge the phone. Thanks to this, you can significantly extend the life of the cell, and thus the usability of our device.

No memory effect of new cells

First of all, we need to debunk a myth. Modern telephones no longer have the so-called “memory effect” that affected older models. It was more or less like that if you charged the battery before it was completely discharged – the actual performance of the battery decreased. For example, if the battery was 85% discharged and you often started charging it at this level, its capacity could have decreased by 15%. Fortunately, today’s battery packs have eliminated this problem.

Do not discharge the phone

Interestingly, to extend the life of our smartphone’s cell, you should charge it against the previous rules. Today’s batteries “like” frequent, short charging, even for only a few minutes. You should remember not to discharge it completely. If you end your day with a flat phone every time, after two years of use, the battery will be much less efficient.

Do not charge the phone overnight

It is also not recommended to leave the phone connected to the charger overnight. This causes the so-called “Battery stress”, as the battery is always live. Of course, when it reaches the level of 100% charge, the system cuts the power, but after a while, when the battery is slightly discharged – it starts charging again. It does not “overload” it, as today’s telephones are so intelligent that they can properly manage energy. However, a side effect is the release of heat, which at higher doses and frequencies is unhealthy for the battery.

You don’t need to fully charge your phone

Importantly, it is worth not to charge the battery 100% each time. You will get better results by charging the phone in the range of, for example, 30% to 90%. Of course, from time to time it is worth fully charging the cell. Sometimes, however, it is difficult to access the socket to recharge our device. Therefore, in some cases, power banks can be helpful.

Beware of temperature!

What about fast charging? Overall, this feature is convenient for sure. Unfortunately, in many cases, due to the generation of higher voltage, causes our battery in the smartphone to heat up quite significantly. And – unfortunately – modern batteries do not like high temperatures. Therefore, it is worth using fast charging only if it is really necessary. For the same reason, it is worth protecting our phones against strong rays of the sun, as well as against frost. Depending on the season, pay attention to this detail and do not leave the device in the sun in summer, and in frost in winter.

Avoid aftermarket chargers

Also, pay attention to what you charge your phones. It is worth using the brand chargers provided with the equipment. However, not always cheap replacements have to be worse, but the risk of damaging the battery due to their use is high. Contrary to appearances, loading is quite a complicated process. The same applies to cheap power banks.

If you want to ensure the long life of our smartphones, it is worth considering these few charging rules. Especially in times when in order to replace the battery, the entire device must be handed over to a specialized service.
